It all depends on the colour you get. Lip gloss is the most temporary of all lip products. If you get a good one it will most likely colour your lips for only a few hours. Lipstick is meant to last a bit longer, if you don't mind sacrificing that nice shine and shimmer you get from lip gloss. Lip stain is another one out there, which is meant to actually stain your lips with colour and last for the day. I've never heard of lipstick staining your lips permanently. If you don't want to wear lipstick you should use some lip gloss.
for very short periods of time, maybe for 20 minutes. But no more than that.
That was what my aunts used to tell me when I was young. Maybe because of the chemicals they use before. But, not now.
just wear light shades of lip gloss and lipstick you lips should be fine
